A Visit to Bullock Farms

Early last week, my mom and I took a quick trip out to Bullock Farms. Located in Cream Ridge, New Jersey, this spot is just a thirty minute drive from where I live.

The area is full of farmland – especially horse farms –  and it makes for the most scenic drive! I love looking at all of the open spaces. I found this farm in particular when I saw some gorgeous photos of sunflower fields and looked for ones in New Jersey. I thought I lucked out when the website for Bullock Farms said their sunflower patch was open through the end of October…

Wrong! Even with the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had here this fall, the flowers didn’t survive long enough for us to go see them. The day I visited was chilly, but it was one of the first of the season, so I thought they might still be there. Even though I was disappointed by the lack of flowers, the farm was still so fun to visit and explore.

A few of the animals on the farm

This goat was very camera friendly!

We spent most of our day navigating the corn maze, which I swear was the biggest I had ever seen. It took us over forty-five minutes to make it through the entire thing. Luckily about halfway through there was a lookout point where you could *somewhat* see the pathway out of the maze and also get a beautiful view of the farm.

It’s only gotten colder since we went out that day (I can’t believe the lows are in the 30s here in New Jersey now) so I guess that means I’ll have to wait until next year to see the sunflowers I went for. In the meantime, I’ll be bundling up with more than just a sweater and long pants for any other farm visits – fall isn’t over yet!
