So another year is coming to an end, and with the next sunrise comes 2017.
New Year's Eve has always been one of my favorite holidays because it marks a time to reflect on the past year and milestones that have passed during that time.
This past year has been full of major life events for me. I visited South Africa for the first time, marking my first time on the continent too. I went back to Europe and found myself feeling at home again in the city of Rome. I graduated from college and got a new job in a new city. This year was all about falling in love with every step of life, even through the bad times, which there were plenty of, but a smile and some optimism will go a long way in getting you through even the worst.
More importantly, even though this is a time of reflection and renewal, nothing will wipe the slate clean entirely. A new year is just another chapter in the same book and that is not necessarily a bad thing. For maybe the first time, I am looking at this upcoming new year as a building block on top of the rest. And I'm looking forward to all that it will bring.
So thanks 2016 for all of the good. I'm hoping 2017 will continue to bring good things - and to everyone.
Wishing everyone the happiest new year full of smiles and champagne!
xo, Jess
